I wondered, I don't really use SP, but I did start a Campaign before the grog mod arrived, I wonder, does it work ok ?.....I might take another look at SP play if it does.

I played a Grand Campaign with the Brits for a while to check it out really. Not many land battles except against american tribes, which were bugged but have been sorted (or so claimed ) with the Darth mod.

I was a bit crap at naval battles to start with so lost a lot of good ships, not good for the Brits

Decided to wait for a few more patches/ decent mod before having another go.

I think it has great potential and might soak up a lot of daylight hours in the future. Free nights will always be reserved for MP though. We still seem decades away from decent AI and there's no substitute for community gaming and whooping some loud mouth's arse on the field

Sounds like me, I kept losing all my ships. I found it hard to remain interested, as the land battles were mostly very small.

I use Grogs + Darths in SP Grand Campaign and it seems to work pretty well. I'm bored with it though as I've never yet lost a land battle. I didn't really expect any better but needed to get to know the ETW mechanics and troops and running a campaign really helped.

Wow this is in complete contrast to my campaign as Brits, but.... using vanilla (i may try out grog mod) what i did was bascially just build up fleets in europe and i managed to take a few trading posts with indiamen, i ended up at war with sweden and france due to allies being attacked but my navy dominated and i had lots of raiding fleets although initally french fleet beat a smaller one of mine.

I also invaded india and thats where the fun was, i found several stacks of armies attacking my army in its initial wave and in actual fact the hordes did manage to destroy majority of my army so next turn i pulled out and landed in an allied region in india to await reinforcements, i sent a bigger army next time and took control of a city and was building it up so i was able to recruit East India Company infantry, Also in americas i was warring with natives but these battles were smaller. But then my game crashed... whenever i load this campaign and end a turn it crashes.... its apparently a bug that may have been fixed in patch so im going to try it again sometime. But i found vanilla very fun... on hard settings.

I didn't go for India or America. In fact, I'm up at around 1740ish and have only just started trading with Marathas. Playing Russia I found that the AI really hated me and I have been stuck for 40 years in local eastern European wars. The biggest challenge I've had has come from the Ottoman empire because they seem able to recruit vast numbers of troops, but still, never lost an encounter yet which speaks more of poor AI then it does of expertise on my behalf.
